Are donations to landcare tax deductible?
Landcare groups are usually non-profit organisations established to enhance or protect the natural environment and to promote ecologically sustainable development. Donors to your group may be able to deduct their donations on their tax return. This applies to donations of cash, trading stock or property.
Eligibility
The organisation needs an ABN and approval as a Deductible Gift Recipient endorsed by the Australian Tax Office, and registration by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts as an Environmental Organisation.
Donations will be tax deductible after the approval is signed.

Applications are made on an application form.
Responsibilities
An organisation is required to provide annual statistical returns of tax deductible donations to its public fund and details of changes to the rules and membership of the management committee of the fund.
