Landcare
Landcare is a national voluntary community movement of around 4,000 groups that aim to improve natural resource management practices. Landcare operates largely in rural Australia, involving 40 per cent of farmers, who manage 60 per cent of land and 70 per cent of the nation’s diverted water.
The Australian Government has committed funding of $37 million for the National Landcare Program for 2006/07 to encourage on ground action that will result in enhanced sustainable natural resource management at the farm, catchment and regional level.
