National Forest Policy Statement
The 1992 National Forest Policy Statement is the blueprint for the future of public and private forests. It reaffirmed all government's commitment to the management of our forests for all Australians.
In developing the National Forest Policy Statement the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments have been mindful of the important conservation values of Australia's forests, and of the contribution that forest-based activities make to the national economy and regional and local employment. This is reflected in Regional Forest Agreements which define how a region's forests are to be used for twenty years.
