Impact of Incentives for Plantation Development in Australia
In 2002, APFC undertook a comprehensive multi-national study on the Impact of incentives on the development of plantation resources in the Asia-Pacific region. The study covered nine countries in the region and was presented at the 19th Session of the APFC in Mongolia, August 2002.
The study's purpose was to provide clear, balanced and objective information to support the development of forest plantation resources in the region, focusing on private sector industrial timber plantations and those established to produce fuelwood and charcoal.
The following case study analyses and presents the effects of public sector plantation efforts to provide a complete understanding of the incentives and their impacts on plantation development in Australia. This is Australia's contribution to the APFC multi-national study.
