Forest and Wood Products Council
The Forest and Wood Products Council (FWPC) is a forest industry advisory body to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. The FWPC was formed in November 2000 to advise on the Forest and Wood Products Action Agenda
PDF [573kb] and was subsequently formalised by the Australian Government under the Regional Forest Agreements Act 2002 s11 (see subsection 11 of the Act).
The FWPC is an effective high level forum which aims to:
- act as a means of liaison between the Minister and stakeholders in the forest and wood products industry
- facilitate co-operation between different sectors of the forest and wood products industry; and
- give advice and information to the Minister in relation to the implementation of the Forest and Wood Products Action Agenda and other government-industry initiatives.
The Minister chairs the FWPC, whose members include representatives from the forest industry, peak industry bodies and the unions.
