National Competition Policy Review of Commonwealth Fisheries Legislation

In 1995, COAG agreed to establish a National Competition Policy for Australia. Under this policy, each jurisdiction (federal, state and territory) is responsible for a committee of officials to conduct the review of all Australian fisheries legislation. The review focused on those aspects of the legislation, which either restricted competition or imposed costs upon business. The report, National Competition Policy Review of Commonwealth Fisheries Legislation, from the review was finalised in September 2002.
