Welcome to the first issue of Australia - our natural resources at a glance. The natural resources required to produce agriculture, fisheries and forestry products are our water, climate, soils, vegetation and biodiversity.

This pocket sized reference puts the facts and figures about Australia's natural resource industries in an easy to read format. Each of the natural resources and its major challenges are described in short chapters, which allow you to see 'at a glance' the key issues for each resource, including easy to read maps and tables.

This reference book supports the Government's policy of providing more information to stakeholders. We trust that it will give you the information you require, or provides guidance to the many sources of additional information available to support improved natural resource management.
