Digital Datasets - Terms and Conditions
You may download any or all of the available Data Sets provided you agree to our terms of transfer. To download one or more Data Sets you are required to read the following conditions.
Terms and conditions
- The data/software provided is for the sole and exclusive use of the authorised individual or agency on a single licence basis.
- Its use is to be acknowledged in any visual or published materials by normal citation.
- It is accepted that the data/software is provided without any offer of technical or other support apart from the accompanying documentation.
- That you or your agency will not provide it to any other individual or agency without the written permission from BRS.
- That it will not be used for direct commercial gain (if in doubt, check with BRS).
- That any errors, omissions or suggestions for improvement should be made known directly to BRS (by e-mail to Dataman or by mail to the Manager, Data Sets, Science Secretariat, Bureau of Rural Sciences).
- BRS does not accept any responsibility or liability for the outcomes of the use of the data/software.
Digital Data Sets
Each data set is available in at least two of the following three formats*:
- ARC/INFO® export files made with the "full compression" option
- ARC/INFO® export files made with the "no compression" option
- ASCII coordinate and attribute files
A description of the available formats should help you decide which is the most appropriate format for your system. Each data set is accompanied by explanatory documentation in one or more rich text files.
Revisions of all data sets may occur periodically; the revision histories provided should assist in determining if you have the most current copy of a data set.
* If the formats offered free of charge are not compatible with your system the data sets may be provided in a suitable format for a small fee. (Please note that not all systems may be accommodated.) BRS charges $A200 per data set plus an additional $A10 if your address is outside Australia for one-off data transfers. The charges cover administrative, processing and transfer costs only.
