Import Market Access Advisory Group
The IMAAG is a high level group within the department which:
- assigns (and, when warranted, re-assigns) priorities to import proposals
- advises Biosecurity Australia of the priorities assigned to import proposals and
- monitors progress of Biosecurity Australia’s work program.
In assigning priority to an import proposal, the IMAAG considers matters relating to Australia’s national interest, the exporting country priority and practical considerations.
The Chief Executive of Biosecurity Australia develops Biosecurity Australia’s work program taking account of the priority assigned by the IMAAG and the available resources and expertise.
Advice to Biosecurity Australia
In order to ensure its advice to Biosecurity Australia on the priority of import proposals is up to date, the IMAAG meets quarterly.
The IMAAG provided its advice to Biosecurity Australia on the priority of import proposals on 29 October 2008, considering formal proposals made prior to 31 August 2008. Proposals and amendments made since this date are being considered at present and will be reflected in subsequent advice to Biosecurity Australia.
Biosecurity Australia's work program is available on the website.
