Notification letter for Citrus from South Africa

Letter as sent to stakeholders on 9 Dec 1997

T97/3240

9 December 1997

Dear Stakeholder

I am writing to formally notify you that the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has received an application to consider the importation of fresh citrus fruit from the Republic of South Africa.

The application will be considered by AQIS using the import risk analysis (IRA) procedures outlined in the Government's response to the report of the review of Australian quarantine chaired by Professor Malcolm Nairn. Formal notification of stakeholders is a requirement of these procedures.

AQIS will be writing to you again in the near future to explain the risk analysis procedures and seek your views on the process proposed by AQIS for this application.

Yours sincerely

Bill Roberts
Assistant Director
Plant Quarantine Policy Branch
