Invitation to stakeholder meeting for bulbs

Letter as sent to stakeholders on 12 May 1999.

Dear Stakeholder

IMPORT RISK ANALYSIS - ORNAMENTAL BULBS FROM THE NETHERLANDS, UNITED KINGDOM, NEW ZEALAND AND ISRAEL

In AQIS' letter of 31 March 1999, stakeholders were provided with a copy of the Issues Paper for the import risk analysis (IRA) for the importation of ornamental bulbs from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Israel. A copy of a previously compiled consultants report on the importation of bulbs was also provided for information.

The Risk Analysis Panel (RAP) will hold a meeting with stakeholders at 2.30pm on Tuesday, 1 June 1999, in the Seminar Room of Agriculture Victoria (Institute for Horticultural Development), 621 Burwood Highway, Knoxfield, Victoria. This meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to consult directly with the RAP and technical working group (TWG) members on the IRA process, and highlight issues to be considered in conducting the risk analysis. Stakeholders wishing to attend the meeting should advise their name and contact telephone numbers to Ms Sandi Drikibau, Telephone (02) 6272 5807 or Fax (02) 6272 3307 by no later than COB Friday 28 May 1999.

Comments on the Issues Paper close on the 28 May 1999, however stakeholders may comment on the information contained in the consultants report throughout the remaining consultative stages of the IRA process. These comments will be considered in finalising the IRA.

Other opportunities will be made available for stakeholders to consult with the RAP members throughout the IRA process as required. The remaining steps in the IRA process are provided at Attachment A.

I look forward to your active participation in the IRA process.

Yours sincerely

Bob Ikin
Chairman
