Quarantine Aspects and Procedures - Cargo Containers
Cargo Containers: Quarantine aspects and procedures deals with containers and the materials they are constructed from as a potential means of introducing serious pests and diseases to Australia. Timber insects pose a significant quarantine risk to Australia, and accordingly all timber in FCL containers, including exposed timber components, must be treated before the container can be considered for immediate release.
Quarantine is also concerned with the external and internal cleanliness of containers. As containers age and usage becomes even more widespread, the risks for quarantine are expected to multiply, and the need for quarantine vigilance will increase.
This document is designed to answer most questions on Australian quarantine entry requirements for containers.
