In Vivo Approvals
In vivo use of imported biological products in non-laboratory animals
In vivo approvals are issued for products that are to be imported, or have already been imported into Australia. Products that have already been imported using an import permit with in vitro end use will require specific in vivo approval by AQIS prior to any in vivo use of the imported product.
Applications for in vivo approvals should be accompanied by the following form:
Import permits can be issued for products directly imported for in vivo end use in non-laboratory animals.
In vivo Approvals
The following information must accompany all applications to use products of animal origin for in vivo end-use:
- Product name and catalogue number
- Name of the supplier and the number of the AQIS Import Permit used to import the product (if applicable)
- A list of all ingredients. For ingredients of animal origin, the following information must be supplied and supported with manufacturers declarations
- Name and country of origin of all species, and
- Details of any processing or treatments applied prior to importation.
- Results of any testing for pathogens
- Details of any post-entry processing or treatments
- Brief details of the proposed end use of the product. For trials and experiments in animals, include the species, number of animals, where they will be housed and post-treatment arrangements (eg. euthanasia and disposal of carcasses)
- The name, address and approval number of the Quarantine Approved Premise where the product will be used.
