Application to Import Live Horses and Alpacas

Application form

There are two options for completing and submitting the Application to Import Live Horses and Alpacas.

1. Complete and submit application form online (eLodgment)

The Application to Import Live Horses and Alpacas can now be submitted and paid for electronically, within our secure environment. The application form is made up of three steps:

  1. Step 1 requires importer and exporter details
  2. Step 2 requires animal details
  3. Step 3 requires importer declaration and payment details.

Please note: If you are submitting an application form online, payment must be made by credit card. The minimum fee for online lodgment is $85.00 and other charges will apply. Please refer to the Charging Schedule for Import Permit Applications to ensure you have authorised sufficient payment.

2. Download the Application to Import Live Horses and Alpacas

Note: This application form is not applicable to importing cats and dogs. View the application to import cats and dogs into Australia.

Payment

View the Charging Schedule for Import Permit Applications for the appropriate costs involved for lodging an application form.

You can pay for the processing of your application in one of the following ways:

  • Credit card payment form:

    or

  • Post a bank cheque made out to the 'Collector of Public Monies, DAFF'. This must be in Australian dollars.

Submitting the application form with payment

Fax or post the completed application form with the credit card payment form or a bank cheque together to;

AQIS aims to approve all import permit applications within 10 working days, provided that all required information has been received at the time of submission.

The omission of any required information will result in an extended processing period.

Please allow additional time for the import permit to be received by fax or post.
