Application to Import Cats and Dogs
Please note: The electronic lodgement and assessment of permit applications for live animals, reproductive materials, cats and dogs and disability assistance dogs are not available at this stage. Only manual lodgement of permit applications is possible.

View our cats and dogs home page and select the country from which you want to export a cat or dog. Download the information package which contains the import conditions, quarantine requirements, fees, import permit application form and the steps involved throughout the entire import process.

Payment
Processing of your application form will not begin until the correct fee is paid in full. The owner/importer is responsible for all quarantine fees associated with the import and quarantine accommodation of cats and dogs.

You can pay for the processing of your manual application in one of the following ways:
- Download the Credit Card Payment Form PDF [37kb] Word [131kb]
- Post a bank cheque payable to the 'Collector of Public Monies, DAFF'. This must be in Australian dollars.
Submitting the application form with payment
Prior to lodging your application with AQIS, please review the how to complete the import application page to ensure all information is completed correctly.
AQIS aims to approve all import permit applications within 10 working days, provided that all required information has been received at the time of submission. The omission of any required information will result in an extended processing period. Please allow additional time for the import permit/s to be received by fax or delivered by mail.
