The boundaries delineating the APLC's area of operation for locust control was agreed upon by the Commissioners on the basis of where each species of locust is most likely to pose an interstate threat.
Australian plague locust

South Australia
From the SA-VIC border, southern boundary of Pinnaroo, Parilla, Bews and Cotton 'hundreds' (within District Council of Chandos); north along the western boundary of Chandos District Council; west along the southern boundary of Albert District Council; north along the eastern boundary of Sturt, Eyre, Burra, Kimberley and Herbert District Councils; west along the southern boundary of Lytton, Granville and Newcastle District Councils; north along the western boundary of Newcastle and Blachford District Councils to Lake Torrens. Victoria
Swan Hill via Sea Lake to Hopetoun; south to Horsham via the Henty Highway; west via Goroke-Frances Rd to SA-VIC border. See Victorian map.
New South Wales
North along the eastern boundary of Murray, Narrandera, Condobolin, Nyngan, Coonamble Rural Lands Protection Boards; via the Newell Highway through Narrabri Rural Lands Protection Board; northeast along the southern boundary of Moree and eastern boundary of the Warialda Rural Lands Protection Boards. Queensland
North along the southern boundary of Inglewood, Millmerran, Wambo, Chinchilla, Taroom, Bauhinia, Emerald and Peak Downs Shires. See Queensland map.
Spur-throated and Migratory locust

Spur-throated and Migratory locust boundary
The APLC carries out surveillance of Spur-throated and Migratory locust populations in the entire area shown in the Australian plague locust map. However, the APLC only controls this species where they pose an interstate threat. This area is defined within Queensland and New South Wales using the following boundaries:
Queensland
In the east includes Shires of Inglewood, Stanthorpe, Millmerran and Wambo south of the Warrego Highway; west along the Warrego Highway to Charleville; south along the Mitchell Highway to Bourke. See Queensland map.
New South Wales
From Bourke, east along the Barwon River to Walgett; east along the Namoi River to Narrabri; north along the Newell Highway through Narrabri Rural Lands Protection Board; northeast along the southern boundary of Moree and eastern boundary of Warialda Rural Lands Protection Boards to the NSW-QLD border.
