Sub-Committee on Emergency Animal Disease SCEAD
SCEAD was established in 2005 as a sub-committee of the Animal Health Committee (AHC), reporting through AHC and the Primary Industries Standing Committee (PISC) to the Primary Industries Ministerial Council (PIMC).
SCEAD’s responsibilities are operationally focussed and include:
- Develop, maintain and review national operating procedures and systems for use by all jurisdictions in Local Disease Control Centres (LDCC) and State Disease Control Headquarters (SDCHQ) operations.
- Coordinate the establishment of consistent legislative frameworks for Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) preparedness and responses.
- Review and make recommendations on operational issues affecting EAD prevention, preparedness and response programs and cross border responses.
- Identify resourcing issues associated with the implementation of national operational procedures for EADs.
SCEAD includes representation from each jurisdiction, is chaired by the AHC program leader for emergency animal diseases and meets once a year, face to face, and as required by teleconference.
