Mallee - Northern Wimmera Revised

The exceptional circumstances declaration for the Mallee-Northern Wimmera Revised has been extended and is in place until 31 March 2011.

All producers in the Mallee-Northern Wimmera Revised exceptional circumstances (EC) declared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies*.

Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for income support  payments and interest rate subsidies.

Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.

Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description

The Mallee-Northern Wimmera Revised EC includes:

  • the Swan Hill, Buloke, and Mildura Local Government Areas in their entirety; and 
  • those parts of the West Wimmera, Hindmarsh, Horsham, Yarriambiack and North Grampians Local Government Areas north of the southern boundary described below.

The southern boundary follows the Wimmera Highway from its Junction with Northern Grampians Shire to Horsham. From Horsham the boundary proceeds west along Wimmera Highway until approx 4km prior to Natimuk where the boundary meets the Wimmera River, north along the Wimmera River to the junction of the Wail State Forest boundary, west along the boundary of the Wail State Forest, where the Forest ends at the junction of Lawloit Track proceed north to where the Lawloit Track becomes the Pine Hill Road and the junction of Lawloit road and Pine Hills Road; from Lawloit, left along the Western Highway through Kaniva and 2km past to Lillimur; from Lillimur right into Lillimu-Yearinga Road which becomes the Murrawong Road, north to the Murrawong Rd for approx 26km to intersection with Eagerly Road, east along Edgerley Road for approx 7km to the junction with Boundary Road, north for 16km to the intersection with Sanders Road, right into Sanders Road and travel approx 4km to the Big Desert Wilderness Park where it meets the South Australian Border.
