DAFF University Vacation Employment Program
Thank you for your interest in DAFF's University Vacation Employment Program. This program is designed for students currently studying at university and is available to students from all disciplines.
The program is a great way to receive paid work experience prior to graduating. It also provides an insight into employment opportunities within the department including the Graduate Development Program. UVEP offers invaluable experience for all participants, providing exposure to portfolio-related issues by completing a major project and giving you an excellent standing for your future career.
Examples of the projects completed in 2008 are provided below:
Employment status
The program involves six weeks of paid work experience from 12 January to 20 February 2009. Participants will be employed under the Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry Collective Agreement 2006-09 as non-ongoing full-time employees at the Band 1, Level 1 rate (salary $36,828). Location
All the positions are located in Canberra.
Participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements no financial assistance for relocation to Canberra will be provided.
Induction, training and development
The program provides participants with a DAFF induction program with key learning around the department’s structure and internal operations; a workshop on writing effective job applications; the opportunity to undertake meaningful projects relevant to your studies; and an opportunity to network with fellow peers, professionals and researchers working in your field of interest.
Applications
Applications for the program will open in September 2008.
All applicants must be Australian citizens.
When applying for UVEP you will be required to address written selection criteria and to rank the projects you are interested in.
